Sigh
I feel really sad this evening. I guess hearing the fireworks and thinking back to old times has got me down. Nothing is the same....people have changed and moved away physically and mentally. I am sitting here alone....it just sucks and is depressing. I sometimes have to wonder if life just doesn't become more and more shitty as it goes along.
I suppose I will be alright. Guess I will just go to bed. Maybe Family Guy will cheer me up...either that or maybe Joel Osteen is on. I really like him. Wow, what a contradiction. Stewie Griffin vs. Joel Osteen.

Just the latest...
Well....yes my Blogger has suffered because of Facebook, but honestly I miss my lil' old blog sitting here in cyberspace all by its lonesome.
So, the latest on me.....hmmmmmm....well, besides the screw ups of life I seem to attract all has been pretty good. Grandma is doing pretty good. My sister seems to be doing good. I need to get back on the eliptical trainer. The dogs are funny and sweet. I took my daughter to get her belly button pierced today, whatever....Kris wasn't thrilled. I need to get my nails done. I am going to Nashville in a couple of weeks to help train law enforcement on some child abduction forensic issues. The funeral home is well, the funeral home. The wedding plans are coming along. Mel's dog Athena made me laugh so hard today my stomach hurt. And I suppose that is it...pretty typical stuff.
I am so ready for girls weekend...a good cold beer or ten, the front porch and floating in the lake sounds pretty damn good right now. Just me and a bunch of my best girlies!!! Ahhhhhh bliss....but first we have to get through the 4th. Woohoo!!!

My new friend....Morgan Freeman

I have been here in San Antonio for a law enforcement training. Everyone decided to go down to the bar for a quick drink before we went to the comedy club (which was okay)but before we left the bar this black man comes strolling in. I looked at him and turn and punch one of the cops, "Hey, it's that Morgan Freeman?" Yes it is was his reply. Well, I want to meet him. So, this retired Dallas PD officer grabs me and drags me over to Mr. Freeman. "My friend Rebecca wants to meet you." And he says nice to meet you and shakes me hand. "Your beautiful, you know." (in that Morgan Freeman voice and I nearly pass out) and he tells me it's his 72nd birthday. I tell him happy birthday, sit down for a picture and go back to my table. BUT...when we are leaving we pass his table again and this time all the cops are with me and I was 3 beers in by this time and am thinking, "I didn't kiss Patrick Dempsey when I had the chance and this opportunity isn't getting away from me again...so we pass by and "I stopped, kneel down, take his hand and say, "Happy Birtday and thanks for making my evening so much better." He says, "How did I make your evening better?" I go, "Because you're cool." And I leaned toward him and kissed his cheek/half lip. In the background, my cop friends are yelling, "Rebecca, you better come on or you are gonna end up on his Bucket List. And Freeman's reply was, "Oh, she's already there." *laughter* Then he said he didn't care about those police officers but why I was there in San Antonio and I was able to share with him a little bit about Andi and the Amber Alert Training we were doing...so yeah I spent Morgan Freeman's birthday with him...he turned 72 yesterday and was drinking whiskey sours. I'm a rock star. Sweet!!!

Well....
...my headache didn't kill me. For that I am grateful. And Mother's Day was wonderful. I couldn't have asked for better.
Watched Family Guy on Hulu last night...I thought I would pee my pants laughing. It's the Stewroids episode if anyone wants to check it out.
I am at work now. It's almost time to go home and the family back there seems pretty well nestled in...that's all I will say because I am not supposed to write about it on here...*zips lip and growls*
Anyway...nothing else happening...life is routine and boring.
*BIG SIGH*

Happy Mother's Day
Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's out there. I can't believe I ever reproduced a child this pretty. As you can see she doesn't look a thing like me...lucky for her I must say.

I have a headache a really, really bad one. I might lay down for a little bit...I hope I am not coming down with the Swine Flu.

Random Things No One Probably Cares About Me
1. I work out with my eyes closed.
2. I take my dental health very seriously.
3. I love the opera.
4. I love the smell of an air conditioner in a car when you first turn it on.
5. Everyone knows I hate green beans.
6. I have been a gamer all my life.
7. I do not like Rod Stewart at all.
8. I have a freckle on my right foot just above the fourth toe.
9. I do not like Christmas.
10. I used to be legally blind but Lasik surgery fixed that problem.
What about you? Ten things? Or maybe one or two?

Another Rainy Day
I think the sun exists no more. I can see why people in Seattle do themselves in. This is awful. Rain, rain, rain.
I have a big child safety event coming up on the 18th. I am speaking and telling Andi's story. After the Sandra Cantu story out in California it seems that child safety should be at the top of the list for law enforcement agencies but it isn't. Although the town of Claremore, Oklahoma seems to "get" it, most don't. But this event is an evening full of booths and things for the kids. I don't know...the more I tell Andi's story the more I hope that it has helped save one life, but I will never know. I guess that means it's making a difference. I can't remember the last time an Amber Alert was issued in Oklahoma. so...that's good.
My dogs are a mess from all the rain. They are muddy and stink. It's just nasty.
I have been working out everyday. It seems to help with anxiety. This time of year sucks, the old ghosts creep up and it makes me sad.
Well, I guess that's it for now.
Peace.

Dexter....

Does anyone watch this show???? I love it.
He's just doing the Lord's work...right?
No offense to anyone by that statement. But, wouldn't it be nice if we had a nice seriel killer in real life who would off the bad ones? The show is smart and clever. I love it.
I got season one and two for my birthday. I can't seem to stop watching...
Comments anyone?
A Great Birthday and a Tower O' Green Beans
We had a birthday party for me on Friday night and had an awesome time. All of our friends came over, and we ate lots of good food. Lorrie made my favorites that she knows I love...her devilish beanie weinies and cheesy potatoes, and our friend Darrell made his awesome grilled chicken and taboli. And we had this cake made:

Yes...it's my boat...down to the last detail. We visited around the fire pit, drank lots of beer, and had a surprise visitor...my cousin Jenn. I did not get one picture of her (I think I had had one too many by then) and we ended the night with a rock band session to die for, we created a new band called Hedgehog Rotunda. Oh and I forgot to mention that my two sweet best friends bought me a case of green beans to which we made a beautiful center piece. Everyone knows how much I adore green beans *throw up a little in back of throat* It was awesome.

Next year I think I will declare the entire month of April as my "Birthday Month."
Thanks everyone for making it great.

Mena, Arkansas Tornado

The image seen here is of the Polk County Courthouse in Mena, Arkansas, a place we became very familiar with back in 2000 when we attended the capital murder trial of the man who murdered my daughter Andi. It doesn't look like a lot of damage to the actual structure of the courthouse, but I have been told that the entire city of Mena looks like a war zone. Last I heard the twister was an EF-4. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has called or left notes concerning our family and friends who are there. All of our folks are okay. My parent's are taking generators and chain saws down to the area to help with the cleanup. I believe my sister is going with them as well. I will try to keep an update on here about this.

A Thai fireman turned superhero
… BANGKOK (AFP) – A Thai fireman turned superhero when he dressed up as comic-book character Spider-Man to coax a frightened eight-year-old from a balcony, police said Tuesday.
Teachers at a special needs school in Bangkok alerted authorities on Monday when an autistic pupil, scared of attending his first day at school, sat out on the third-floor ledge and refused to come inside, a police sergeant told AFP.
Despite teachers' efforts to beckon the boy inside, he refused to budge until his mother mentioned her son's love of superheroes, prompting fireman Sonchai Yoosabai to take a novel approach to the problem.
The rescuer dashed back to his fire station and made a quick change into a Spider-Man costume before returning to the boy, he said.
"I told him Spider-Man is here to rescue you, no monsters are going to attack you and I told him to walk slowly towards me as running could be dangerous," Somchai told local television.
The young boy immediately stood up and walked into his rescuer's arms, police said.
Somchai said he keeps the Spider-Man costume and an outfit of Japanese television character Ultraman at the station in order to liven up school fire drills.
